Curves International

Curves International is a global franchise of women's fitness centers. Its headquarters are in Waco, Texas. The business was founded by Texas couple, Diane and Gary Heavin, who continue to privately own the company. Curves International is reputedly the world's largest fitness franchise with at least ten thousand centers worldwide, and approximately four million participants. Curves fitness centers are operating in fifty five countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. The company slogan is "Your Curves Will Amaze You."^TM

The first Curves center was opened in 1992 by the abovementioned founders. The first franchise opened its doors in 1995. The dramatic and global success of the Curves franchise has been attributed to the original idea at its core. The central concept of Curves is to provide a well-defined 30 minute training session in a setting that is specifically geared towards women, with guidance and training provided by women. At the same time it aims to provide weight loss advice, diet recipes, and even a magazine (entitled Diane) to its members.

The recommended approach for members is to attend their center three times a week for thirty minutes each time. There is a joining fee plus ongoing membership fees, which reduce in proportion to the length of time purchased.
