The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet The general opinion about this diet is that any weight loss caused is more likely to be due to reduced calorie intake rather than any actual effect of the vinegar itself. Apple cider vinegar is the product of fermentation of apples. The basic recommendation of the diet is to take anywhere up to 3 teaspoons of the vinegar prior to the commencement of each meal. For those who find this too unpalatable, there is now the option of apple cider vinegar in pill form. In addition to these regular doses, there are instructions to keep food intake light and increase physical exercise. Skeptics point out that simply following these latter instructions would lead to weight loss independent of the substance after which this diet is named.
